Thailand : the Passion tour
Day 1 : Bangkok.
Arrival at Bangkok airport. Your English speaking guide is waiting for you. Transfer to your hotel. Around 01.00 – 01.30 pm, departure from your hotel for a sight seeing tour and a first discovery of the capital, with a trip by longtail boat (Hang Yao) on the canals (khlongs) of Thonburi and Bangkok. Discover the typical life of the former “ Venice of the East” (on week-ends : visit of the floating market).
Day 2 : Bangkok - Kanchanaburi - Bangkok - Chiang Mai (B, L, D).
Breakfast at your hotel and departure to Kanchanaburi. Visit of the World War II Cemetery and Museum and the (in)famous Bridge on the River Kwai. Lunch around 12.30 h ( noon ) and return to Bangkok . Departure (flight) to Chiang Mai. Arrival in Chiang Mai. Welcoming by our local guide and transfer to your hotel in the heart of the city. Kantoke-dinner with show (ethnic dances performed by Northern and hilltribes). Overnight in your hotel.
Day 3 : Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai (B, L).
After breakfast, departure from your hotel to Chiang Rai (by road). During the trip, halt in an elephant training camp, where you can admire them, touch them, study them and even feed them with bananas. Make a jump back in the past and discover the countryside from an ox-cart, travelling at their slow pace to a Karen village. One hour elephant ride through the jungle and upwards to the mountain. Then you will embark on a bamboo-raft for a river descent, with a few rapids alternating with tranquil moments amidst the tropical forest. Back to the elephant camp, departure for a torch-lit visit of the Chiang Dao cave. Lunch at Ban Tha Ton and boat trip (longtail boat) towards Chiang Rai. During the journey, halt in an Akha village, with stunning views of the North of Thailand. Arrival to the resort at the end of the afternoon. Overnight in your hotel.
Day 4 : Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai (B, L).
Breakfast at your resort and departure for Mae Sai, border town with Myanmar (Birma). Visit of the Golden Triangle, strategic point from which you can have a unique view of Thailand , Myanmar and Laos . Boat excursion (longtail boat) on the Mekong in the Golden Triangle. Lunch and return to Chiang Mai. Free time and overnight in your hotel.
Day 5 : Chiang Mai – Mae Hong Son (B, L).
In the morning, after breakfast, transfer from your hotel to the Chiang Mai airport. Departure flight to Mae Hong Son (30 min flight) and arrival to this charming city. Transfer to your hotel. Free time and lunch. In the afternoon, visit of the Nam Lod Cave and the Sacred Fish Cave . Return and overnight in your hotel at Mae Hong Son.
Day 6 : Mae Hong Son - Chiang Mai(B, L).
Breakfast at your hotel. Departure by minibus for an excursion to the Karen hilltribe and the amazing ‘long-necked' women of Nai Soi village. Boat journey along the Pai river. Lunch and transfer to Mae Hong Son airport. Return flight to Chiang Mai. Arrival and transfer to your hotel. Free time and overnight in Chiang Mai.
Day 7 : Chiang Mai (B, L).
Breakfast followed by visit to the Doi Suthep, at a height of 1000 m above the plains. Superb view on Chiang Mai. You reach the temple by climbing about 290 steps. Lunch and visit of the craft villages where you will discover the ancient methods of manufacturing silk, lacquerware, silverware… and the art of umbrella painting. Free time in the late afternoon and evening. Overnight in your hotel.
Day 8 : Chiang Mai - Bangkok (B).
Free time until transfer to Chiang Mai airport for your return flight to Bangkok . Possibility of extension of your staying in Thailand (beach holidays).
