Thailand  : the Classic North tour

Day 1 : Bangkok.

Arrival at Bangkok airport. Welcoming by your English speaking guide and transfer to your hotel. Departure from your hotel around 01.00 – 01.30 pm for a first discovery of the capital, with a tour by longtail boat (Hang Yao) on Thonburi's and Bangkok 's canals (khlongs). Discover the typical life of the former ‘ Venice of the East' (on week-ends, visit of a floating market). Overnight at your hotel.

Day 2 : Bangkok - Kanchanaburi - Bangkok (B, L).

Breakfast at your hotel and early departure, around 06.30 – 06.45 am towards Damnoen Saduak's floating market, at a distance of about 110 km from the capital. It is the most colourful and animated market of Thailand , with its floating flowers, vegetables and fruit vendors supplying the local residents. Visit of a coconut sugar plant, then visit by boat of the floating market itself and journey towards Kanchanaburi. After lunch, around 12.30 h, discovery of the World War II cemetery and museum and of the (in)famous Bridge over the River Kwai. Return to Bangkok and transfer back to your hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight at your hotel..

Day 3 : Bangkok - Ayutthaya - Phitsanulok (B, L, D).

Departure from your hotel towards Ayutthaya , former capital of Siam , one of the most impressing sites of Thailand  : the Wat Yai Chai Mongkol, the Wat Phra Mongkol Bophitr, the Wat Sri Samphet. We leave Ayutthaya and pursue the journey to Lopburi, where we have a visit of the Temple of the Sacred Monkeys. Arrival in Phitsanulok in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 : Phitsanulok - Sukhothai - Lampang - Chiang Rai (B, L).

Departure from your hotel in direction of Sukhothai, first capital of the ancient kingdom, and visit of its most prestigious heritage, the Wat Mahathat, the Wat Sra Sri and the museum. Lunch in Lampang and continuing of the journey towards Chiang Rai. On the way, halt in a pineapple field and at the Phayao lake. Arrival in Chiang Rai and transfer to your hotel.

Day 5 : Chiang Rai - Golden Triangle - Chiang Mai (B, L).

Departure to Mae Chan and visit of Akha and Yao hill tribes villages. The journey goes on towards the Golden Triangle, where three countries have their borders : Thailand , Myanmar and Laos .Arrival in the late afternoon in Chiang Mai and transfer to your hotel.

Day 6 : Chiang Mai (B, L).

Visit of the handicrafts village of Sankamphaeng  : painted umbrellas, silk weaving, lacquerware… After lunch, visit of the Northern most impressing and most revered monastery, the Wat Doi Suthep (ascension of about 290 steps). Evening, Kantoke show-dinner with dances performed by Northern and hill tribes.  Overnight at your hotel.

Day 7 : Chiang Mai - Bangkok (B, L, D).

Departure for the region of Chiang Dao, visit of an elephant training camp and of an orchid farm. Afternoon at leisure, followed by transfer to Chiang Mai's airport for your return flight to Bangkok and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 8 : Bangkok (B).

Day at leisure until your transfer to Bangkok airport for your return flight. Possibility of extension of your staying to a beach destination in Thailand . Possibility of extension to a beach destination in Thailand.
